Renowned Punjabi singer and music director B Praak has reportedly received a serious death threat linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The threat also included an extortion demand of Rs100 million, equal to Rs10 crore. The matter has triggered concern within the music industry and among law enforcement agencies.
According to reports, the threat was delivered through a close associate of the singer. The associate is fellow Punjabi artist Dilnoor. On January 5, Dilnoor received two missed calls from an international number. He initially ignored them due to the unknown source.
The next day, Dilnoor received another call from a different foreign number. This time, he answered the phone. The caller introduced himself as Arju Bishnoi. He claimed links with the Bishnoi gang. During the call, he asked Dilnoor to pass a threatening message to B Praak.
The caller allegedly demanded Rs100 million from the singer. A one-week deadline was set for payment. The threat warned that B Praak could travel anywhere in the world. However, the message claimed that people close to him would be targeted. The caller further warned that failure to comply would lead to the singer being killed.
After receiving the call, Dilnoor approached the police. He formally submitted a complaint detailing the threats. Following this, police registered a case and began an investigation. Authorities confirmed that the matter is being treated seriously.
Law enforcement officials said efforts are underway to trace the international phone numbers. They are also working to identify those behind the threats. Police sources added that digital and technical evidence is being collected to support the investigation.
Security around the singer has reportedly been reviewed. Officials are also in contact with people close to him. No arrests have been announced so far.
B Praak is one of the most popular names in Punjabi and Hindi music. He has delivered several chart-topping songs over the years. His hit track Mann Bharrya gained massive popularity. He also recently received praise for Sari Duniya Jala Denge from the film Animal.
