WMO President Salman Iqbal Urges Immediate Relief For Gul Plaza Fire-Hit Traders

President of the World Memon Organisation (WHO), Salman Iqbal, has expressed deep sorrow over the devastating fire at Gul Plaza. The tragic incident has claimed several lives and left many people missing. Families and traders are still struggling to come to terms with the loss.

In a strong statement, Salman Iqbal said the disaster has caused immense pain for thousands of traders and labourers. Many of those affected belong to the Memon community. He described the fire as a heartbreaking tragedy that destroyed years of hard work and lifetime savings in just a few hours.

Traders have raised serious concerns about the rescue operation. They reported that fire tenders arrived late at the scene. They also said there was a severe shortage of water. This delay made it harder to control the fire and save lives. Salman Iqbal said these failures must be investigated without delay.

He added that simple condolence messages are not enough. The victims need immediate relief and long-term support. Families have lost their loved ones. Many traders have lost their businesses. Hundreds of households are now facing financial and emotional distress.

On behalf of the World Memon Organisation, Salman Iqbal offered heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased. He also expressed solidarity with the families of the missing persons. He assured them that they are not alone in this difficult time.

Salman Iqbal stressed that the government must take practical steps. He demanded that the Sindh government announce a relief and compensation package without delay. He said the victims deserve immediate relief, fair compensation, and full rehabilitation.

He also called for the formation of an independent, high-level inquiry committee. This committee should investigate the causes of the fire and the failures in the rescue operation. He said accountability is essential to prevent such tragedies in the future.

Salman Iqbal announced that he will personally meet the affected traders of Gul Plaza. Through the World Memon Organisation, he will engage with relevant authorities. His goal is to ensure that victims receive immediate relief, justice, and long-term support.

He further demanded a comprehensive plan for the restoration and reconstruction of Gul Plaza. He said rebuilding the market is vital for the livelihoods of thousands of families.

The Gul Plaza fire has exposed serious gaps in emergency response and safety measures. Salman Iqbalโ€™s call for action highlights the urgent need for reform, accountability, and strong government support for the victims.
