A viral notification claiming that the Punjab government approved Rs40 million for the makeup expenses of two provincial ministers is false. The document circulating online is fabricated.
The fake notification, dated January 12, allegedly comes from the Implementation and Coordination Wing of the Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD). It claimed that Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb and Information Minister Azma Bokhari would receive Rs40 million for personal makeup and presentation costs. The document appeared to show the signature of a section officer from Cabinet I of S&GAD.
Officials have confirmed the notification is not authentic. Ahmad Iqbal, the section officer whose signature appeared on the fake document, told Geo Fact Check that Cabinet I does not have the authority to approve financial grants related to ministers. He explained that such approvals go through Cabinet II, following formal procedures.
“This notification does not bear my signature, and Cabinet I cannot approve such grants,” he said. “There is a strict process, and this document is entirely false.”
The fake notification also contains multiple errors. It lacks a notification number, which is standard for official S&GAD communications. Its formatting and structure do not follow government protocols, further proving that it was self-generated.
Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari also addressed the false claims on her X account, calling the notification fake and warning the public not to believe it.
Social media users had shared the claim widely, suggesting ministers were using public funds for personal makeup. Fact-checkers clarified that no official notification or approval exists regarding makeup grants.
This incident highlights the importance of verifying government documents before sharing. Claims about ministers’ makeup expenses, or any financial allocations, should be checked against official notifications issued by S&GAD or the Punjab government.

In conclusion, the circulating notification regarding Rs40 million for ministers’ makeup is entirely false. The Punjab government has made no such approval, and the claims on social media are baseless.
