Salman Khan Receives Notice From Delhi High Court

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has been officially notified by the Delhi High Court regarding a personality rights complaint filed by a China-based AI voice platform. The notice requires a response within four weeks, with the next hearing scheduled for February 27.

The case challenges the courtโ€™s December 11 interim order, which protected Salman Khanโ€™s publicity and personality rights. Under that ruling, the actorโ€™s voice, image, and identity cannot be used commercially without prior authorization.

Salman Khan receives continued support from the court to protect his persona from unauthorized use. Previously, he had approached the Delhi High Court seeking legal safeguards against misuse of his image and voice for commercial purposes. Following his plea, social media platforms were instructed to take action within three days.

Justice Manmeet Pritam Singh Arora highlighted that if any party is found exploiting an actorโ€™s name, voice, or image for profit, the court may issue stay orders immediately. Social media intermediaries are also required to treat Khanโ€™s complaints as formal grievances under the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021.

The petitioner in this case is a Chinese AI platform specializing in synthetic voice generation. The platform allegedly used Salman Khanโ€™s voice and persona without authorization, prompting legal action.

Salman Khan receives strong backing from the courtโ€™s directives, reinforcing protections for celebrity identity rights in the digital era. The notice ensures that AI and other technology platforms cannot misuse an individualโ€™s voice, image, or likeness without proper consent.

The upcoming hearing in February will determine further legal measures and how such platforms must comply with Indian law. Salman Khanโ€™s legal team is expected to submit a detailed response to defend his rights.

This case highlights the growing concerns about AI-generated content and the unauthorized commercial use of celebrity images and voices. Salman Khan receives recognition in the courts for his efforts to protect personal and publicity rights, setting a precedent for other artists facing similar issues.

The Delhi High Courtโ€™s involvement underscores the importance of personality rights in India and the need for strict enforcement against unauthorized commercial exploitation.
