The Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) has taken a major step toward international collaboration by engaging with the U.S. Embassy in Pakistan. PFF President Syed Mohsen Gilani met with Chargé d’Affaires Ms. Natalie A. Baker to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation and promote Pakistan’s image globally through football. The meeting was held under the Freedom 260 Liberty Bell Initiative, themed “Let Freedom Ring,” launched by the US Mission in Pakistan.
During the discussion, President Gilani highlighted PFF’s renewed vision under his leadership. He emphasized that football can serve as a tool to develop athletes, engage youth, and enhance Pakistan’s global reputation. Gilani outlined plans to work closely with the US Embassy, describing the potential for a strategic partnership that goes beyond sports and fosters cultural exchange.
Gilani briefed the embassy on PFF’s support from the Prime Minister’s Office and the Ministry of Sports, particularly regarding grassroots football programs. He stressed that aligning Pakistan’s football operations with global standards will empower the youth to represent the country internationally with skill and pride.
Ms. Baker praised the progress under Gilani’s leadership, noting increased fan engagement and government backing for football initiatives. Both leaders agreed to prioritize women’s football, high-performance youth programs, and promotional efforts for the FIFA World Cup 2026, which will be co-hosted by the United States. Gilani described the World Cup as an opportunity to showcase Pakistan’s positive image on the global stage.
President Gilani also reaffirmed that women’s football is a cornerstone of PFF’s modernization strategy. He expressed gratitude for the government’s administrative support, which has enabled rapid development in the federation. Both leaders concluded that this strategic partnership is not limited to the field; it aims to strengthen institutional governance, promote cultural exchange, and ensure long-term growth for Pakistani football.
