Thursday Off: Public Holiday Officially Announced

Pakistan has officially confirmed that a holiday announced on Thursday, February 5, will be observed nationwide on account of Kashmir Solidarity Day. The decision applies to the entire country and follows a formal notification issued by the Cabinet Division.

According to the notification, all federal and provincial government offices will remain closed. Semi-government departments will also observe the closure. Banks and financial institutions will not operate on this day. All public and private educational institutions will remain shut as well.

The Cabinet Division stated that the holiday announced will be observed across Pakistan without exception. The notification also directed that a one-minute silence will be observed at 10:00 am. This silence will honor the sacrifices of Kashmir martyrs.

Kashmir Solidarity Day is observed every year on February 5. The day reflects Pakistanโ€™s support for the people of Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir. It also highlights unity with Kashmiris who continue to face conflict and hardship.

The holiday announced allows citizens to participate in solidarity activities held nationwide. Political and religious groups organize rallies, conferences, and seminars. These events aim to raise awareness about the Kashmir issue.

Leaders from different parties address gatherings across major cities. They speak about human rights concerns and call for a peaceful resolution. Many speakers emphasize the need for dialogue and international attention.

Long marches and public rallies are common on this day. Participants chant slogans supporting the Kashmiri struggle. People from all walks of life join these events.

A key feature of the day is the formation of human chains. These are formed on major routes leading to Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Participants stand hand in hand to show unity and support.

Media outlets also play a major role. Television channels air special programs and discussions. Documentaries and talk shows highlight the situation in Kashmir.

Educational institutions contribute through debates and discussions. Students express opinions and propose solutions to the conflict. Cultural programs promote Kashmiri traditions and heritage.

Kashmir Solidarity Day was first observed in 1991. Since then, it has remained a significant national observance. The holiday announced each year ensures strong public participation and continued awareness.

The government has urged citizens to observe the day peacefully. Authorities have also advised following security guidelines during public events.
