DUBAI – Pakistan opener Saim Ayub has regained the top position in the ICC Men’s T20I All-Rounder Rankings. His outstanding performances in the recent series against Australia helped him surpass Zimbabwe veteran Sikandar Raza.
Ayub played a key role in Pakistan’s 3-0 series whitewash over Australia at home. He scored 119 runs and took three wickets across the three matches. His all-round performance contributed significantly to Pakistan’s dominant display and boosted his ranking ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
The upcoming T20 World Cup, starting February 7, will see Pakistan aiming for their second title. Their first success in the tournament came in 2009, and Saim Ayub’s form has raised hopes for a strong campaign this year.
Ayub was not the only Pakistani to make waves in the rankings. Spinner Abrar Ahmed moved up two places to second among T20I bowlers, just 28 rating points behind India’s Varun Chakravarthy, after taking six wickets in the series.
Left-arm spinner Mohammad Nawaz also improved his position, moving eight spots to seventh among bowlers after a five-wicket haul in the final match against Australia. Nawaz climbed to fourth overall among T20I all-rounders, highlighting Pakistan’s depth in the squad.
On the batting front, Saim Ayub rose eight places to equal 27th in the T20I batter rankings. Pakistan skipper Salman Ali Agha gained 12 spots to 29th, while other international stars like Jos Buttler, Pathum Nissanka, and Suryakumar Yadav also made small gains in the top 10.
Cricket analysts say Saim Ayub’s return to the top spot demonstrates his consistency and ability to perform under pressure. His all-round skills make him a vital player for Pakistan as they head into the T20 World Cup.
