Makeup artist Ayesha Butt has revealed her personal experiences with casting couch practices in Pakistan’s media industry. She shared details in a recent appearance on a popular YouTube podcast, explaining the challenges she faced while trying to build her career.
During the podcast, Ayesha Butt addressed questions about her bold social media image. She explained that her online persona was shaped by both personal choice and the difficulties she encountered in the entertainment industry.
“I moved to Karachi to work in showbiz,” she said. “Producers told me, ‘We will give you work after you sleep with us.’ Unfortunately, this is true. I did multiple photoshoots, stills, and web series, but my work was either shelved or cut because I refused.”
Ayesha Butt mentioned her work in the drama serial Sotan, collaborating with actors like Agha Shiraz, Saleem Mairaj, and Sohail Sameer. She recalled that eight years ago, she was repeatedly offered roles in exchange for sexual favors. She also named photographer Munna Mushtaq, who asked her for sexual favors, which led her to leave the media industry temporarily.
She further described a troubling incident involving an actor from the popular drama Meray Paas Tum Ho. “I don’t remember his name; he played Danish’s friend. When I entered his office, he took off his shalwar and asked me to get physical with him,” she explained. Ayesha added that the actor, who has a wife in the showbiz industry, tried to pressure her into a relationship, threatening her career growth if she refused.
Following these experiences, Ayesha Butt decided to leave the media industry and focus on her career in the salon business. She emphasized that hard work and dedication helped her succeed despite the challenges she faced.
With over 400,000 followers on social media, Ayesha Butt is recognized for her bold online content. While she briefly worked in dramas like Sotan, she now concentrates on makeup artistry and her personal brand, advocating resilience and professional integrity in the industry.
