Basant Weather Forecast for Lahore: PDMA Issues Alert

Basant Weather Forecast for Lahore PDMA Issues Alert

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has shared a weather forecast for Lahore ahead of Basant. The authority said the city will experience dry and partly cloudy weather from February 6 to 8. These conditions are expected to support outdoor activities during Basant celebrations.

According to PDMA Punjab, the overall weather in Lahore will remain mild and comfortable. Daytime temperatures are likely to stay between 20 and 22 degrees Celsius. This temperature range is considered suitable for public gatherings and seasonal events linked to Basant.

A PDMA spokesperson confirmed that no rainfall is expected in Lahore during this period. The dry conditions are expected to continue across nearby areas as well. This forecast offers relief to residents planning to celebrate Basant in open spaces.

While Lahore will enjoy pleasant weather, conditions in northern regions will be different. PDMA Punjab has predicted rainfall in northern districts. Snowfall is also expected in mountainous areas. Due to this, cold intensity may increase in those regions.

The authority advised residents and travelers in northern areas to remain cautious. Slippery roads and low visibility could cause travel difficulties. People are encouraged to stay updated with local weather advisories.

Along with the weather update, PDMA Punjab issued safety guidelines for Basant. Citizens were urged to follow precautionary measures, especially during kite-flying activities. Special care should be taken on rooftops and near electric wires.

The authority strongly warned against the use of metal wires and chemical-coated kite strings. Illegal kite-flying equipment poses serious risks to life and property. PDMA Punjab stressed that such materials must be completely avoided during Basant.

Motorcyclists were also issued a special advisory. They have been urged to wear helmets and neck protectors at all times. These safety measures are aimed at reducing injuries caused by stray kite strings.

PDMA Punjab said increased public awareness is essential during Basant. The authority emphasized that celebrations should not compromise public safety. Law enforcement agencies will also remain alert during the festive period.
