The Tarlai Blast Tragedy claimed another life on Monday as 30-year-old Ali Naqi Bosan succumbed to injuries sustained in the attack. His death raises the total fatalities to 35.
Bosan had been receiving treatment at a private hospital since the blast. Tragically, his father also died in the same attack, making it a double loss for the family. Both were residents of Ratodero in Larkana district.
The Tarlai Blast Tragedy occurred on Friday, February 6, when a suicide bomber targeted a mosque in Tarlai Kalan, on the outskirts of Rawalpindi/Islamabad. The attack left dozens dead and scores injured, shaking the local community.
Investigations have revealed that the attacker, identified as 25-year-old Yasir, used 4–6 kilograms of explosives packed with ball bearings. Authorities said Yasir fired multiple shots both outside and inside the mosque before detonating his suicide jacket. Bullet casings were recovered from the scene.
Officials said Yasir had been missing from his home in Nowshera for over a year. He conducted reconnaissance of the mosque beforehand and traveled to Islamabad using public transport, stopping briefly at a nearby hotel before reaching the attack site.
Investigators confirmed that Yasir had received militant training in Afghanistan and had made multiple trips there. Security sources warned that terrorist groups operating from Afghanistan continue to pose threats under the Taliban regime. Recent incidents suggest coordination between militants in Afghanistan and India.
Law enforcement agencies have arrested an ISIS-affiliated Afghan national identified as the mastermind behind the Tarlai Blast Tragedy, along with four facilitators. Authorities continue to monitor leads to prevent further attacks and strengthen regional security.
