Zayn Malik recently confesses about his past love life with supermodel Gigi Hadid. In a candid interview, he explained that he doesn’t think he was ever truly “in love” with her. However, he stressed he will always care for her because of their daughter.
Reflecting on their relationship, Zayn said his understanding of love has changed over time. “At that moment, I might have thought it was love, but now I realize it might have been lust or something else,” he admitted. He added that while he may not have been in love, he still loves Gigi deeply.
“I will always love G,” Zayn said. “She is the reason my child exists, and I have the utmost respect for her.” He clarified, “I don’t know if I was in love with her, but I do love her a crazy amount.”
The former One Direction singer also spoke about his approach to relationships. He revealed he is not looking for a public relationship again, having learned from past experiences that they do not suit him. Zayn explained that being private is important and he prefers relationships that are more personal and less exposed to public scrutiny.
He also reflected on his younger years, admitting he sometimes “got in trouble” in relationships. “I tend to do things when I’m young that I later regret,” he said. Despite this, he finds being single “so freeing” and enjoys living life on his own terms.
Gigi Hadid previously shared her perspective on co-parenting with Zayn. In an interview with Vogue, she said, “Zayn and I do our custody schedules months in advance. We help each other and have each other’s backs.” She added that their partnership is based on mutual respect and love, focusing on raising their daughter together.
The couple’s six-year relationship ended after Zayn’s legal issues involving Gigi’s mother, Yolanda Hadid. Since then, Gigi has started dating Hollywood star Bradley Cooper, who reportedly plans to propose later this year with family blessings.
