Lahore Railway Station Discontinues Free Internet Service

Lahore Railway Station Discontinues Free Internet Service

Commuters at Lahore Railway Station are frustrated after the Free Internet service was abruptly suspended. Passengers report being unable to connect throughout the station.

The shutdown occurred because railway officials failed to pay the internet service provider. As a result, the private company managing the network removed all equipment from the station.

Despite the suspension, QR codes promoting the Free Internet service remain on walls and platforms. Many travelers continue trying to connect, unaware that the service is no longer active. The issue has caused confusion, especially as trains frequently run behind schedule.

Sources confirmed that devices previously installed at the main entrance and on platforms two and four have been completely withdrawn. The program was introduced under the direction of Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi. It aimed to provide internet access at major railway stations nationwide, including Lahore and Karachi.

Passengers have voiced strong demands for immediate action. They call on authorities to either restore the Free Internet service or remove the misleading signage to prevent further inconvenience.

Railway officials have yet to issue a statement explaining when or if the service will be reinstated. Travelers say the absence of internet access makes it harder to check train timings, book tickets, and stay connected while waiting.

The suspension has raised questions about the management and sustainability of public internet programs at railway stations. Many commuters argue that consistent connectivity is crucial for improving passenger experience and modernizing station facilities.

Observers note that providing reliable Free Internet at major stations can enhance convenience and reduce commuter frustration. The current shutdown highlights gaps in funding and management that need urgent attention.

Passengers are hopeful that authorities will resolve the situation promptly and ensure that the Free Internet program meets its intended purpose.
