The Punjab government has decided to establish two new Teaching Hospitals in Lahore to improve healthcare and medical training. Both Teaching Hospitals will be built in the Nawaz Sharif Medical District near the Khayaban-e-Amin Interchange on Ring Road.
Officials said that 191 acres of land have been allocated for the medical district. The project aims to expand modern treatment facilities and strengthen medical education in the city. Authorities believe the new Teaching Hospitals will help reduce the burden on existing health centers.
According to the plan, a new building for Children’s Hospital-II will be constructed on 99 kanals of land. The estimated cost of this project is Rs23.68 billion. The hospital is expected to provide advanced treatment for children and support specialized training for doctors.
In addition, an infectious diseases hospital will be built within the same district. This facility will be constructed on 18 kanals of land. The estimated cost for this hospital is around Rs34 billion. Officials said the hospital will focus on the treatment and management of infectious illnesses. It will also serve as a training center for medical professionals.
The government also plans to establish a Centre for Excellence for Nursing Education and Midwifery. The project is estimated to cost Rs13 billion. It will be built on 180 kanals of land inside the medical district. The center aims to improve the quality of nursing and midwifery education in Punjab.
Authorities said these projects are part of a broader plan to strengthen public healthcare services. The new Teaching Hospitals are expected to offer modern facilities and better training opportunities for students and professionals.
The Infrastructure Development Authority Punjab has already issued tenders for the projects. Officials said the development work will begin after the tender process is completed.
