A team of top doctors has examined former Prime Minister Imran Khan following widespread concerns about his eyesight. The Vision Loss report was shared publicly to clarify the situation.
The medical team, led by Dr. Nadeem Qureshi, Retina Specialist at Al Shifa, and Dr. Arif, Head of PIMS Eye Department, conducted a thorough examination. They brought advanced equipment, including a slit lamp and OCT scanner, in a fully equipped ambulance.
After the examination, the doctors provided a live video update to Dr. Asim Yusuf, Dr. Mirza, and Barrister Gohar Ali Khan. They confirmed that there is no serious problem in either eye. The right eye, previously reported as severely affected, is recovering well, and vision is gradually improving.
The Vision Loss report clarified that previous claims of 85% vision loss were entirely false. Blurriness and infection were linked to age-related factors and are now steadily resolving. Swelling has almost disappeared, according to the medical team.
Despite positive progress, Imran Khan continues to need intensive care. Following a Supreme Court order, a decision is expected regarding his transfer to Al Shifa Hospital. There, Dr. Qureshi and Dr. Amir Awan will continue treatment. On February 25, he is scheduled for the second dose of Ilya, previously administered at PIMS three weeks ago. Doctors noted that procedures like an angiogram or laser treatment could be considered if needed.
Sources said Imran Khan expressed satisfaction with the care and personally thanked the doctors. Bushra Bibi also visited him and plans to meet him again tomorrow. The doctors’ detailed Vision Loss report is being submitted to the Supreme Court, with a summarized copy sent to the Prime Minister’s Office.
