Karachi Jewellery Shop Looted, Thieves Steal 606 Tola of Gold

Karachi Jewellery Shop Looted, Thieves Steal 606 Tola of Gold

Karachi witnessed a major heist as a jewellery shop looted in Iqbal Market, with thieves escaping with gold and diamonds worth millions.

Police reported that unknown suspects broke through a wall of the shop in District West. Around 606 tolas of gold, valued at approximately Rs300 million, were stolen. Diamonds and other valuables worth an additional Rs2.5 million were also taken.

The affected jeweller, Ayub Khan, filed a complaint at the Iqbal Market police station. He told authorities that the shop was closed on the 12th, but when staff reopened it on the 14th, the safes were empty.

Initial inspections confirmed that personal gold items weighing about 7,064 grams were missing, along with diamonds and other jewellery pieces. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation to trace the culprits and recover the stolen property.

This incident follows another daring robbery earlier this month in Bahadurabad, Karachi. In that case, nearly 200 tolas of stolen gold fell onto the road after the thieves lost control of their motorcycle. Security guards managed to recover most of the scattered loot, but the suspects escaped with approximately $100,000.

Authorities in Karachi are now implementing measures such as geo-fencing and tracking escape routes to prevent future thefts. Police stressed that the jewellery shop looted in Iqbal Market highlights the need for enhanced security in commercial areas.

Shopkeepers and residents have expressed concerns over repeated robberies, urging authorities to increase surveillance and improve emergency response systems.

The investigation into the jewellery shop looted is ongoing, with police analyzing CCTV footage and coordinating with other law enforcement agencies. Officials hope to apprehend the suspects soon and recover the stolen gold and diamonds.

The Karachi police have also asked business owners to report any suspicious activity immediately to avoid further losses.
