China Offers Visa-Free Entry to UK and Canadian Citizens Until December 31

China will allow Visa-Free Entry for ordinary passport holders from the United Kingdom and Canada starting Tuesday. The facility will last until December 31, 2026, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed.

The 30-day Visa-Free Entry is available for tourism, business trips, visiting relatives or friends, exchange programs, and transit purposes. The initiative is part of China’s effort to strengthen people-to-people connections with the UK and Canada.

This move follows recent visits to Beijing by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney. During their meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping, both leaders discussed enhancing bilateral relations and cooperation across multiple sectors.

Chinese officials said the visa-free scheme is designed to make travel easier for citizens from the UK and Canada. Travelers can stay up to 30 days without applying for a visa, promoting tourism and business exchange. The measure is expected to boost travel and economic ties between China and the two countries.

In related diplomatic developments, China’s senior diplomat Wang Yi met German Chancellor Friedrich Merz at the Munich Security Conference. The two discussed strengthening China-Germany relations and raising their strategic partnership to a higher level.

Experts noted that China is focusing on consolidating ties with European countries at a time when Europe is seeking balanced foreign policy. The UK and Canada visa-free arrangement reflects China’s broader efforts to expand international cooperation and promote friendly exchanges.

The Visa-Free Entry facility will allow thousands of UK and Canadian citizens to visit China without the usual visa procedures. Travelers are encouraged to comply with local rules and regulations during their stay.
