A deadly attack by Indian-backed terrorists on a joint security checkpost in Bajaur district claimed the lives of 11 personnel on February 16, 2026.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated that the attackers belonged to the “Indian Proxy Fitna al Khwarij” group. They attempted to breach the checkpost, but Pakistan’s security forces responded swiftly and decisively.
Showing courage and professionalism, troops engaged the militants, killing 12 of them during the encounter. In desperation, the terrorists rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into the checkpost, causing the wall and nearby infrastructure to collapse.
The explosion also severely damaged nearby civilian homes. One young girl was martyred, and seven others, including women and children, were injured.
Authorities confirmed that the attack by Indian-sponsored militants was part of a coordinated attempt to destabilize the region. Security forces immediately launched sanitization operations to eliminate any remaining terrorists in the area.
The operation is part of the ongoing “Azm e Istehkam” campaign, approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan. Its goal is to eradicate foreign-sponsored terrorism from Pakistan.
Officials praised the sacrifices of the security personnel, noting that their bravery thwarted a potentially larger disaster. The martyred soldiers’ actions prevented further casualties at the checkpost and nearby residential areas.
Local authorities have tightened security in Bajaur and nearby districts to prevent additional attacks. They warned that law enforcement agencies will maintain a high alert to safeguard civilians and infrastructure.
