A massive LPG tanker fire broke out in Taftan, Balochistan, claiming two lives and injuring multiple people, officials reported.
The blaze erupted near the Customs House, engulfing the tanker, nearby godowns, and part of the populated area. The assistant commissioner of Taftan was among the six injured.
District administration teams, the Frontier Corps, and the Iranian Fire Brigade quickly launched a firefighting operation to control the fire. During the rescue effort, the LPG tanker exploded, intensifying the blaze and causing severe injuries to the surrounding people.
Authorities confirmed that the LPG tanker fire led to the deaths of two individuals and left six others with burn injuries. The injured were immediately transported to the local hospital, while critical cases were referred to Quetta for advanced medical care.
Officials said that the flames from the LPG tanker fire caused significant damage to nearby structures and storage units. The timely intervention of firefighting teams prevented further loss of life and limited the spread of the fire to other areas of the town.
An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the fire and the explosion. Authorities are reviewing safety protocols, handling procedures, and the tankerโs maintenance records to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Officials also urged residents to remain cautious and avoid crowded areas during emergency operations. The incident has highlighted the importance of strict safety measures while transporting and storing LPG cylinders in populated regions.
