The University of Punjab has released its official Holiday Schedule for Eid-ul-Fitr 2026 and spring recess. The break begins on Friday, 20 March 2026.
According to the notification, all academic activities in the university’s teaching departments, institutes, centres, constituent colleges, and schools will be suspended from 20 March to 23 March 2026. This closure is to observe the Eid festival.
Following the Eid holidays, teaching units will remain closed for the Holiday Schedule of the spring recess from Tuesday, 24 March to Friday, 27 March 2026. Regular classes will resume on Monday, 30 March. Administrative staff are expected to return to work on 24 March.
The announcement aims to help students, faculty, and staff plan their activities during the festive season and the spring break. University officials emphasized that the break will be observed across all campuses uniformly.
In addition, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted that the Shawal moon, marking Eid-ul-Fitr 2026, is unlikely to be sighted on the 29th of Ramadan. This suggests that Eid will most likely fall on 20 March, aligning with the university’s announced Holiday Schedule.
Students and faculty are encouraged to stay updated with official university notifications for any adjustments to the Holiday Schedule. The university stressed the importance of following these guidelines to ensure smooth academic operations before and after the break.
This official holiday notification allows families to plan celebrations, travel, and religious observances in accordance with the Eid festival. With the combined Eid and spring holidays, students will have ample time to rest before the resumption of classes.
The University of Punjab continues to maintain transparency in its scheduling and encourages all departments to adhere strictly to the announced Holiday Schedule.
