Oil Prices Expected to Rise Further in Coming Days, Says PM Shehbaz

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has warned that oil prices may increase further in the coming days due to the ongoing war in the Middle East. The prime minister highlighted that the government is closely monitoring the situation and taking steps to maintain economic stability in Pakistan.

Addressing the nation, PM Shehbaz said the government is committed to supporting the public despite challenges posed by rising fuel costs. He added that funds saved from recently introduced austerity measures will be used to provide relief to citizens affected by the potential increase in oil prices.

Provincial governments have also acted to tackle the energy crisis. Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), and Balochistan have announced new measures aimed at managing the impact of rising fuel costs on households and businesses. Meanwhile, the Sindh cabinet is scheduled to meet today to discuss further steps in response to the situation.

Earlier, the premier unveiled a series of austerity measures during a national address. These measures are part of a broader plan to reduce unnecessary expenditures and stabilize the economy. The government aims to ensure that citizens are protected from the worst effects of potential increases in oil prices.

Analysts say that the ongoing conflict in the Middle East has created uncertainty in global oil markets. Pakistan, being an oil-importing country, is vulnerable to these changes. The governmentโ€™s proactive approach, including austerity measures and provincial initiatives, aims to mitigate the economic impact on ordinary citizens.
