Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir held a telephonic conversation with Bahrain’s ruler, King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, amid rising tensions in the Middle East.
During the call, Field Marshal Munir condemned the recent missile strike on Bahraini territory. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to support Bahrain and emphasized the need to defend sovereignty, security, and national interests against external threats.
Bahrain News Agency reported that Munir expressed Pakistan’s firm solidarity with the kingdom. He stressed that Pakistan stands ready to assist Bahrain in efforts to defend sovereignty and maintain regional stability.
King Hamad highlighted Bahrain’s approach of using wisdom, moderation, and diplomacy. He said the country will continue collaborating with Arab, regional, and international partners to promote peace while safeguarding its security.
The call comes after a series of joint U.S.-Israeli military strikes targeted Iran, prompting retaliatory missile and drone attacks across the Gulf. Several countries, including Bahrain, Qatar, the UAE, Kuwait, and Jordan, faced these attacks, increasing fears of a broader regional conflict.
Field Marshal Munir reaffirmed that Pakistan fully supports Bahrain’s measures to defend sovereignty and protect its citizens and critical infrastructure. He also conveyed Pakistan’s readiness to offer assistance if required, emphasizing cooperation between the two nations in maintaining peace and stability.
Officials stated that the discussion reflected Pakistan’s commitment to regional security and its long-standing ties with Gulf countries. Both leaders agreed to continue close coordination to manage security challenges arising from the escalating Middle East crisis.
