Pakistan Showcases Rice Exports To Japanese Buyers At FOODEX Japan 2026

Pakistan highlighted its rice export potential to Japanese buyers during FOODEX Japan 2026, held at Tokyo Big Sight from March 10 to 13. The event is one of Asiaโ€™s largest food and beverage exhibitions, attracting top industry professionals from around the world.

Officials said Pakistanโ€™s participation reflects ongoing efforts to expand market access and strengthen trade ties with Japanโ€™s food and hospitality sectors. Pakistani rice, particularly Basmati, is known for its distinctive aroma and extra-long grains, making it highly sought after internationally.

During the exhibition, the Embassy of Pakistan in Tokyo hosted an event titled โ€œPakistan Rice Experience โ€“ Aroma & Grain of Pakistanโ€ on March 12, 2026. The gathering brought together Japanese buyers, importers, trading houses, and culinary professionals, allowing them to sample premium rice varieties and engage directly with exporters.

Speaking at the event, Ambassador Abdul Hameed emphasized Pakistanโ€™s reliability as a global supplier and stressed the importance of strengthening commercial links between Pakistani agricultural exporters and Japanโ€™s food industry. He highlighted the need for dependable supply partnerships, especially amid global supply chain uncertainties.

Trade and Investment Counsellor Madiha Ali delivered a presentation on Pakistanโ€™s rice sector, followed by a tasting session of premium rice varieties. Participants had the chance to explore flavors and quality standards directly with exporters.

Pakistani rice exporters attending FOODEX Japan included Meskay & Femtee (Pvt.) Ltd., Decent Rice Mills, Matco Foods Ltd., and Garib Sons. Established Pakistani brands already operating in Japan, such as Guard Rice and Mehran Rice, also participated to showcase their offerings.

Officials reported strong interest from Japanese buyers, noting that Pakistani rice is gaining recognition in hotels, restaurants, and food service chains across Japan. The event is expected to help boost exports and secure long-term trade partnerships.

Pakistanโ€™s presence at FOODEX Japan 2026 demonstrates its commitment to engaging with international markets and promoting high-quality agricultural products to Japanese buyers, strengthening bilateral trade relations in the food sector.
