Pakistan’s federal capital Islamabad has been placed under strict security measures as authorities respond to potential threats. Security forces have increased their presence across the city, and several important roads and locations have been sealed.
Containers have been placed at multiple entry points to block access to sensitive areas. Police and Rangers personnel are deployed in large numbers to maintain order and monitor the situation. These steps have created a temporary security lockdown in parts of Islamabad.
Several central locations are completely blocked. Areas such as Aabpara, Seventh Avenue, D-Chowk, and Express Chowk have been closed using large containers. These barriers prevent vehicles from entering restricted zones.
Security has also been tightened around the central Imambargah Asna Ashri. Barricades have been placed near the religious site to regulate the movement of people and vehicles. Authorities say these measures are meant to ensure safety during public gatherings.
The security arrangements come ahead of Youm-e-Quds rallies expected in the city. Due to these events, Islamabad police have issued traffic advisories for residents and commuters.
According to the police spokesperson, Murree Road will remain the only open route for access to the Red Zone. All other roads leading toward sensitive government areas will stay closed for the time being.
The Chand Tara Flyover, which connects Srinagar Highway to Serena Chowk, has been fully closed. Traffic movement between Aabpara and Suhrawardy Road has also been blocked in both directions.
Additional road restrictions have been introduced in other parts of Islamabad. From Rawal Dam Chowk to Kashmir Chowk, one side of Club Road has been shut for traffic. Similarly, one side of Park Road from Shahzad Town to Musharraf Chowk has been closed.
Authorities have advised citizens to use alternative routes when traveling in the city. Commuters are encouraged to plan their journeys carefully to avoid delays caused by the closures.
Security officials say these precautions are necessary to maintain peace and prevent any potential incidents. Patrols have been increased around key buildings, public places, and government offices.
Residents of Islamabad have been asked to cooperate with law enforcement agencies. Officials believe these temporary restrictions will help ensure public safety during large gatherings.
