False Hospital Attack Claims Debunked; Narrative Exposed By Eyewitnesses

False Hospital Attack Claims Debunked; Narrative Exposed By Eyewitnesses

Tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan escalated recently after the Taliban circulated false claims blaming Islamabad for killing hundreds in an alleged hospital strike. Officials have called these reports baseless, and eyewitness accounts have narrative exposed as propaganda.

The Taliban had claimed that 400 people were killed in an attack on Kabul Central Hospital. On-the-ground reporting and hospital records, however, revealed no signs of mass casualties or widespread bloodshed. Only 15 injured patients were receiving treatment, far below the alleged death toll.

A nearby rehabilitation center was also falsely reported to have been targeted. Investigations showed that a small fire near the center likely resulted from an attack on a Taliban military camp, not the hospital. Afghan media and eyewitnesses confirmed that the viral claims were fabricated, further contributing to the narrative exposed by independent reporting.

The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) did not confirm the staggering death figures. Afghan reporters corroborated eyewitness testimonies, establishing that the viral claims were completely false. The incident highlighted the ease with which misinformation can spread during military conflicts.

The controversy follows Pakistanโ€™s airstrikes in Kabul and Nangarhar, which targeted ammunition depots and technical infrastructure. Amid these operations, a spokesperson for the Afghan Ministry of Interior falsely alleged that 400 people died in the attack on the rehabilitation center.

Federal Information Minister Ata Tarar criticized the Taliban for attempting to spread misinformation. He stated that the group tried to fabricate a false narrative about the hospital incident, which was later removed from their online channels. He emphasized the importance of relying on verified sources rather than rumors.

The incident underscores how quickly false information can escalate regional tensions. Eyewitness reports and verified hospital data have been essential in the narrative exposed, preventing the spread of further disinformation.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation in Kabul, ensuring transparency and confirming facts before reports are disseminated. Analysts warn that misinformation during conflicts can inflame public sentiment and complicate diplomatic relations.
