Comedian and host Tabish Hashmi has hinted at a major television return after his successful film debut. He revealed that he will soon appear in a “very big’” drama project.
During an interview on Buzz with Hassan Choudary, Hashmi was asked about his future in television. In response, he said fans will not have to wait long. He added that viewers can expect him in a “very big’” drama soon.
Hashmi recently made his acting debut in the film Aag Lagay Basti Mein. He played a negative role alongside well-known actors Fahad Mustafa and Mahira Khan. The film marked his first step into cinema after years of success in comedy and hosting.
The crime-comedy film was released on Eid Ul Fitr 2026 and achieved impressive results. It recorded one of the strongest openings in Pakistani cinema history. The film earned Rs 27.2 crore worldwide in its first three days. Out of this, Rs 16.2 crore came from Pakistan, while Rs 11 crore was generated from overseas markets.
The film’s performance surpassed previous records. It outperformed Love Guru, which earned Rs 12.8 crore, and The Legend of Maula Jatt, which collected Rs 11.3 crore during a similar period. It also stayed far ahead of its competing release Bullah.
At a pre-release event, Hashmi spoke about his experience in a light-hearted way. He said he felt less pressure compared to Fahad Mustafa, who had invested in the film. He added that he focused on delivering his role as required.
With such a strong debut, expectations are high for his next project. Fans are eager to see how he performs in a television role after his film success. His statement about a “very big’” drama has already created excitement among viewers.
Industry observers believe this move could mark an important step in his acting career. If the project matches expectations, it may further strengthen his position in the entertainment industry.
