The cost of the Kutchery Chowk remodeling project in Rawalpindi has been increased from Rs. 14 billion to Rs. 19 billion after a revised development estimate was approved.
Officials confirmed that the project completion deadline has also been extended from April 30 to the end of May due to pending construction and finishing work.
A senior official from the Punjab Communication and Works Department stated that several components of the mega infrastructure project are still under construction despite major progress achieved so far.
According to authorities, structural work on two flyovers and three underpasses has been completed along with significant road development across the project area.
However, finishing activities including aesthetics, lighting installation, and drainage systems are still underway, which has contributed to the revised timeline for completion.
Officials attributed delays to rainfall during March and Eid holidays, while Rawalpindi Division Commissioner Amir Khattak reviewed progress during a site visit where overall completion reached 76 percent.
