Karachiโs matric students faced major disruption after their annual exams were suddenly postponed. The delay happened due to the failure of the Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK) to issue admit cards on time. This unexpected situation created confusion and stress among students and parents.
To address the issue, the board released a New DateSheet, which has now provided clarity. According to the updated schedule, the matric exams will begin on April 10, instead of the earlier date of April 7. The change has given students a few extra days to prepare.
As per the New DateSheet, the first exam will be for Class 10 Computer Science students from the Science Group. This paper is scheduled for the opening day. Meanwhile, the Class 9 Computer Studies exam will take place on April 11. The board has confirmed that all exams will follow this revised timeline without further delays.
All exams, including those for Science and General Groups, will be conducted in the morning shift. The timing will remain from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Students have been advised to reach their exam centers at least 30 minutes early to avoid any last-minute issues.
The board has also resolved the admit card problem. Schools were allowed to collect admit cards on April 6 by presenting an authority letter. Officials confirmed that all students have now received their cards. These were made available at the conference hall in Block B starting from 9:00 AM.
The exams are expected to continue until April 28. This period is considered very important for students, as matric exams play a key role in their academic future.
However, the situation has drawn criticism. The All Sindh Private Schools and Colleges Association raised concerns about poor management. Lawmakers from MQM-P also called the delay an โeducational tragedy.โ They demanded that admit cards should be made available online to avoid such problems in the future.
The last-minute changes caused anxiety among students and their families. Many were already prepared for the earlier dates. Despite this, the release of the New DateSheet has helped restore some order. Students are now focusing on their preparation as the exams approach once again.
