Traffic Alert Issued in Islamabad and Rawalpindi Ahead of US-Iran Diplomatic Talks

ISLAMABAD โ€“ Authorities have issued an important Traffic Alert for residents of Islamabad and Rawalpindi ahead of major diplomatic talks between the United States and Iran. The advisory warns commuters about road closures, traffic diversions, and restrictions expected during the high-level meetings.

The Islamabad Traffic Police announced a special traffic plan to manage vehicle movement during the visit. Officials advised citizens to limit unnecessary travel over the weekend. The Traffic Alert aims to reduce congestion and maintain security in sensitive areas of the federal capital.

According to the advisory, several major roads will experience diversions. Travelers coming from Peshawar toward Rawalpindi are advised to use Faisal Mor, Chakri, Chak Beli Road, and Rawat Road. Meanwhile, drivers traveling from Lahore toward Peshawar should take Rawat, Chak Beli Road, Chakri, and the Taxila Motorway.

Residents of sectors G-5, F-6, and G-6 who are heading toward Rawalpindi are advised to use 9th Avenue as an alternate route. Vehicles moving toward Zero Point will also be redirected to the same road.

Traffic police said commuters from Bara Kahu traveling to Rawalpindi should use Korang Road, Bani Gala, Lehtrar Road, and GT Road. People traveling from Rawalpindi to Islamabad will be redirected through Saddar Road and 9th Avenue.

Authorities confirmed that the Expressway from Zero Point to Faisal Avenue and Coral Chowk will remain completely closed in both directions during the security operation. Drivers heading toward Faisal Avenue via Colonel Sher Khan Road should use the 9th Avenue Signal through Stadium Road.

Travelers moving between Peshawar and Lahore have also been given alternate routes. Motorists traveling from Peshawar to Lahore should take the Taxila Motorway and the Tarnol Phatak route toward the Fateh Jang Motorway. Heavy traffic coming from Lahore via GT Road toward Islamabad and Rawalpindi will be redirected through Chak Beli Road using the Chakri Motorway.

The Traffic Alert also states that heavy vehicles will not be allowed to enter Islamabad on April 9 and 10. In addition, all roads within the Red Zone will remain closed for traffic due to strict security arrangements.

Drivers traveling from Serena Chowk toward NADRA Chowk have been instructed to use Check Post Road. Certain diversions will also affect Khayaban-e-Sehrawardi and 9th Avenue at specific hours.

Residents near G-6, G-5, and F-6 sectors are advised to plan alternate routes because partial closures will impact Faisal Avenue, 9th Avenue, and Murree Road. Security checkpoints in the Red Zone may also cause delays.
