Pakistan has become the center of major diplomatic activity as high-level talks between the United States and Iran begin in Islamabad under strict security arrangements.
A senior US delegation led by J. D. Vance arrived in the capital. The delegation also includes Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff for the high-stakes negotiations.
Upon arrival, the delegation was received by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar along with Chief of Army Staff Syed Asim Munir and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.
Earlier, a large Iranian delegation comprising more than 70 members also reached Islamabad. The visit was arranged at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to support peace efforts.
Officials expressed hope that all parties would engage in constructive dialogue. Pakistan reiterated its commitment to facilitating a lasting and durable resolution to the ongoing tensions involving Iran and Israel.
Sources revealed that key global players, including China and Russia, along with Gulf nations, are expected to join the talks as observers.
The negotiations follow a 15-day truce reportedly brokered through Pakistanโs diplomatic efforts. China, alongside Pakistan, is said to have played a role in encouraging Iran toward a ceasefire.
Meanwhile, authorities in Islamabad have enforced strict security measures. The Red Zone has been sealed, and heavy traffic restrictions have been imposed to ensure safety during the talks.
