Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi inaugurated an upgraded Safari train service in Rawalpindi on Sunday, marking a step toward promoting tourism through railways. The ceremony took place at the cityโs main railway station.
Speaking at the event, Hanif Abbasi said the Ministry of Railways is implementing reforms to modernize Pakistanโs railway infrastructure. He noted that early results of these initiatives are already visible in service quality and passenger satisfaction levels.
The newly upgraded Safari train now features air-conditioned coaches, improved seating arrangements, and a more comfortable environment designed especially for families. Officials have repositioned the service as a tourism-focused recreational train experience.
Passengers will also benefit from planned stopovers at multiple stations, allowing them to explore destinations along the route. The initiative aims to make train travel more engaging rather than just a means of transportation.
One of the key highlights includes extended stops and meal arrangements at scenic spots such as Attock Khurd. These additions are expected to attract tourists and families looking for short leisure trips.
Hanif Abbasi further stated that the trainโs occupancy has already increased, reflecting growing public confidence. He praised railway workers for their dedication and emphasized ongoing efforts to improve operational efficiency across the network.
