Polling Date Announced: Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly Elections On June 7

The election schedule for Gilgit-Baltistan has been officially announced, setting the stage for the upcoming Assembly election in the region. Polling will take place on June 07, 2026, across all constituencies.

Chief Election Commissioner Raja Shahbaz Khan released the full schedule of the Assembly election. Authorities said all preparations have been finalized to ensure a smooth voting process.

According to the announced timeline, candidates can submit nomination papers from April 16 to April 20. The preliminary list of candidates will be displayed on April 21. This step will allow voters and officials to review the initial lineup.

The scrutiny of nomination papers will continue until April 28. During this period, officials will examine documents to ensure candidates meet all legal requirements. Any objections or issues will be addressed during this phase of the Assembly election process.

Appeals related to nomination papers will be decided by May 09. Candidates who wish to withdraw their nominations can do so by May 11. This provides a clear timeline for finalizing participation in the Assembly election.

Election symbols will be allotted to candidates on May 12. These symbols help voters easily identify candidates on the ballot paper. Polling for all 24 constituencies will take place on the same day, June 07.

Officials have stated that all departments are working together to ensure a peaceful environment. Security arrangements and administrative measures have been planned in advance. The goal is to conduct a fair and transparent Assembly election.

The elections were initially scheduled for January 24, 2026. However, they were postponed due to severe weather conditions in the region. Heavy snowfall and harsh climate made it difficult to carry out the process earlier.

Authorities now believe that conditions are suitable for holding the elections in June. They have urged political parties and voters to cooperate for a smooth process.

The last Assembly election in Gilgit-Baltistan was held on November 15, 2020. Since then, the region has been waiting for the next electoral cycle.

Officials emphasized the importance of voter participation in strengthening democratic processes. They encouraged citizens to take part actively in the upcoming vote.

With the schedule now confirmed, political activity is expected to increase in the coming weeks. Candidates will begin their campaigns soon after the final list is issued.

The Assembly election is seen as an important event for the regionโ€™s political future. Authorities remain focused on ensuring transparency and fairness throughout the process.
