Punjab Traffic Police Tighten Rules to Prevent Accidents

The Punjab Traffic Police has intensified efforts to improve road safety as the DIG Traffic issued strict directives to district officers across Punjab to enforce traffic laws more rigorously.

Under the new orders, licenses of drivers involved in fatal accidents will be immediately revoked. Authorities have also been instructed to register cases against unlicensed drivers found responsible for accidents.

The directive emphasizes stricter monitoring in high-risk areas. Officers have been told to deploy additional personnel at locations where accidents frequently occur to reduce incidents and enhance enforcement.

Strict action will also be taken against violations of one-way traffic rules. Vehicles found breaching these rules will be impounded and fined to discourage reckless driving behavior.

The DIG Traffic further instructed officers to crack down on motorcyclists riding without helmets and drivers not wearing seat belts, both of which are major contributors to road fatalities.

In addition, drivers using mobile phones while driving will face penalties, while authorities will ensure strict compliance with lane discipline to maintain smoother and safer traffic flow.

Officials believe that these measures will help reduce road accidents, improve public safety, and encourage responsible driving habits across the province.
