Ghalibaf Slams US Port Blockade As ‘Foolish And Ignorant’ Decision

Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has issued a strong warning about rising regional tensions. He said Iran remains highly suspicious of the United States. This comes despite a current ceasefire agreement.

He stated that Iranian forces are fully prepared for any possible return of conflict. According to him, military units remain on high alert at all times. He said Iran does not trust Washington’s intentions.

Ghalibaf also focused on the strategic Strait of Hormuz. He said Iran maintains strong control over this key maritime route. It is one of the world’s most important shipping passages.

He criticized US actions related to Iranian ports. He described attempts to pressure or restrict Iran’s maritime access as “foolish, ignorant”. He said such policies would not succeed and could raise tensions further.

The speaker warned that Iran could respond if restrictions continue. He said Tehran may limit maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz. This would affect global shipping routes and energy transport.

He again referred to external pressure as “foolish, ignorant”, stressing that blocking Iran would lead to wider consequences. He said no country should expect free passage if Iran’s own rights are restricted.

Ghalibaf explained that the ceasefire framework is broader than Iran alone. He said it also includes Hezbollah and other regional groups. He added that Iran considers the ceasefire in Lebanon an important condition of the agreement.

He said Iran still supports safe and normal shipping in the region. However, he linked current disruptions to incomplete implementation of peace arrangements in Lebanon. He suggested that stability depends on full compliance.

On diplomacy, Ghalibaf said negotiations with the United States are part of Iran’s strategy. He described talks as a way to defend national rights. He said diplomacy and field developments work together.

Maritime authorities recently reported incidents in the Strait of Hormuz. Gunboats reportedly fired on a tanker attempting passage. A second vessel was also struck by a projectile.

In response to ongoing tensions, Ghalibaf again warned against what he called a “foolish, ignorant” approach to regional pressure. He repeated that Iran would respond firmly if its security or economic interests are threatened.

The situation remains tense as diplomatic efforts continue alongside military readiness.
