Inter Part 1 Chemistry examination has come under severe controversy after reports emerged that the paper was allegedly leaked shortly before the exam began. The incident has triggered widespread concern among students, parents, and education authorities across Karachi and interior Sindh, raising questions about the integrity of the examination system.
According to early reports, a network of cheating facilitators was actively involved in distributing solved answers of the Chemistry paper through WhatsApp groups. These messages reportedly circulated in Larkana before the official start of the exam, allowing some students to gain unfair advantage over others sitting the same test.
The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Larkana has faced strong criticism following the incident. Many stakeholders believe that the board failed to implement timely preventive measures, despite repeated complaints about cheating and malpractice during ongoing examination sessions across various centres in the region.
Examinations continued across the province with multiple subjects scheduled in both morning and evening shifts. The English paper began at 9:00 am and concluded at 12:30 pm, while other subjects such as General Science, Economics, and Islamic Studies were also conducted later in the day under tight schedules.
This year’s examination season is particularly significant, with more than 500 centres established and approximately 385,529 candidates participating. However, the scale of reported malpractice has raised serious concerns about monitoring systems, especially in high-pressure environments where enforcement remains challenging.
Despite the imposition of Section 144 in several areas, reports suggest that cheating activities continued in some locations. Additionally, frequent power outages at multiple centres further disrupted examination conditions, adding to the frustration of students and raising demands for stricter accountability measures.
