Sindh Crackdown on Unregistered Tenants Leads to Arrests

Authorities in Sindh have intensified enforcement against tenants and landlords who fail to complete mandatory registration, warning that strict legal action will follow non-compliance. Officials confirmed that individuals living in rented properties without proper registration may face arrest and possible imprisonment under the latest crackdown measures.

The move is part of a broader effort to regulate temporary residents and improve security monitoring across urban areas. Police have clearly stated that both tenants and property owners share equal responsibility for completing the required documentation, making it essential for both parties to comply with the law.

In Karachi, the South District Police have already taken action, registering 39 cases and arresting 54 individuals during recent operations. The enforcement campaign reflects growing concerns among authorities regarding unregistered residents and their potential impact on law and order.

According to official data, Saddar police recorded the highest activity with eight cases and 15 arrests. Clifton police also registered eight cases, resulting in 10 arrests, while Defence police reported eight arrests in their respective jurisdictions. These figures highlight the scale of the ongoing crackdown in key areas of the city.

Senior Superintendent of Police Mahzoor Ali stated that strict action against unregistered tenants and landlords will continue and may intensify in the coming days. He emphasized that registration is not optional and warned that violators will face serious consequences under the law.

Authorities have urged all tenants and property owners to immediately complete their registration to avoid legal trouble. Officials stressed that timely compliance is the only way to prevent arrests, as law enforcement agencies continue their efforts to ensure proper documentation and maintain security standards.
