US Envoys Head to Pakistan for Iran Talks

The White House has confirmed that senior envoys will travel to Pakistan for potential talks with Iranian representatives, amid rising tensions in the Middle East. However, Iranian officials have denied the possibility of direct negotiations, creating uncertainty around the diplomatic effort.

US representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are expected to engage in in-person discussions aimed at easing the ongoing conflict. The talks are seen as a crucial step toward de-escalation, though both sides appear divided on the format and expectations of the meeting.

Meanwhile, Iranโ€™s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has already arrived in Islamabad, where he is scheduled to hold discussions with Pakistani officials. Authorities say the visit focuses on regional peace efforts, with Pakistan potentially acting as a mediator between Washington and Tehran.

Despite US optimism, Iranian state media has rejected the idea of direct talks, stating that Islamabad will instead serve as a channel to convey proposals. This stance highlights the ongoing diplomatic deadlock, as Iran continues to demand the removal of US restrictions before entering formal negotiations.

The situation has been further complicated by disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for global oil and gas shipments. Iran has limited traffic through the strait, triggering volatility in international energy markets and raising concerns over supply shortages worldwide.

Global leaders, including Antonio Costa, have emphasized the urgent need to reopen the waterway, calling it vital for global economic stability. As tensions escalate and military presence increases in the region, the outcome of these talks in Pakistan could play a key role in shaping the next phase of the crisis.
