A tragic incident occurred in Karachi’s Gulzar-e-Hijri area of Scheme 33, where a 55-year-old online cab driver was killed in an armed attack. Police confirmed the driver shot dead in the early hours of Thursday.
The victim was identified as Vehando, a resident of Umerkot in Sindh. His body was shifted to a nearby hospital for postmortem procedures.
According to police officials, the driver shot incident happened while he was sitting inside his vehicle. Another person was also present in the car at the time of the attack.
Unidentified armed suspects opened fire on the vehicle and fled the scene immediately. The attackers remain at large, and no arrests have been made so far.
Police said the victim used his private car as an online taxi service. Initial findings suggest the case may be linked to personal enmity. However, investigators have not confirmed a motive yet.
The family of the deceased rejected claims of any personal disputes. They stated that the driver shot incident came as a shock, as they were not aware of any enmity.

Family members shared that Vehando was a retired government employee. After retirement, he purchased a car and began working as a ride-hailing driver to support his household.
He was married and the father of eight children. His sudden death has left the family devastated.
The police said they are treating the driver shot case as a priority. Efforts are ongoing to trace the attackers and determine the exact motive behind the killing.
