Islamabad’s Gulberg Residencia And Margalla View Housing Societies Face NAB Action Over Land Worth Billions

A major enforcement drive has been carried out in Islamabad under the NAB Land Recovery operation. The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) recovered large areas of land from private housing societies. The move aims to return public utility land to government control.

Officials confirmed that land from Gulberg Residencia and Margalla View housing societies has been reclaimed. The recovered land has now been transferred to the Capital Development Authority (CDA). Authorities said the total value of the recovered land is around Rs66 billion.

The NAB Land Recovery action focused on resolving long-standing issues. These included delayed handovers and alleged illegal use of amenity land. The land was originally reserved for public services and community use.

According to reports, nearly 6,500 kanals of land were recovered in this operation. Out of this, more than 5,000 kanals came from Gulberg Residencia. Around 1,000 kanals were taken back from Margalla View D-17 housing society.

The transfer process was completed under legal procedures. NAB Islamabad, Rawalpindi Director General Waqar Chauhan supervised the entire operation. Officials described the action as a significant step toward transparency and accountability.

A formal ceremony was held to hand over the land to CDA. Authorities called it a milestone in protecting public property. The NAB Land Recovery process is part of wider efforts to address irregularities in housing schemes.

Officials also shared that more cases are currently under review. Around 4,500 kanals from other housing societies are expected to be recovered soon. These cases are in advanced stages of legal processing.

So far, nearly 4,793 kanals of public and amenity land have been officially transferred through legal mutation. This land now stands under government control for public use.

The NAB Land Recovery campaign highlights continued efforts to protect state land. It also aims to ensure that housing developments follow proper rules. Authorities have signaled that similar actions will continue in other areas.

Overall, the operation marks one of the largest recent recoveries of public land in Islamabad.
