The Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) has launched a new digital facility to help consumers manage payments easily. Electricity bills are now becoming more accessible as they are payable online through a QR code system.
According to an official spokesperson, QR codes have been added to electricity bills. This step allows users to make their payments quickly without visiting bank branches or offices. With this update, bills are now payable online from home using a mobile phone.
The company said the main goal is to improve customer convenience. The new system is designed to reduce delays and simplify the billing process. Consumers only need to scan the QR code printed on their bill to complete payment.
Authorities have also advised users to check their name and address before scanning. This ensures accuracy and helps avoid payment errors. Officials stressed that correct verification is important when bills are payable online.
The initiative follows a broader government push for digital payments. Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif directed institutions to add QR codes on all bills. The aim is to promote a cashless economy across the country.
Under this plan, the government is encouraging digital transactions for salaries, pensions, and utility payments. Systems like RAAST are being used to make financial transfers faster and more transparent. This supports the growing trend where services are becoming payable online.

The Prime Minister also praised the Finance Ministry and the State Bank for supporting digital payment platforms. He noted that billions of rupees have already been transferred through direct digital systems.
PESCO’s QR code introduction is expected to further increase convenience for electricity consumers. It allows bills to be payable online anytime, reducing the need for physical visits and long queues.
