Rawalpindi Kutchery Chowk Expected to Be Opened for Traffic by May 31

The major development project at Kutchery Chowk in Rawalpindi is nearing completion. Officials have confirmed that the work is about 92 percent finished. The project is expected to open for traffic by May 31.

The Rs19 billion Kutchery Chowk remodelling project aims to improve traffic flow in the city. It is designed to handle the needs of more than 250,000 vehicles daily. Authorities believe the project will reduce congestion in one of Rawalpindi’s busiest areas.

According to officials from the Punjab Communication and Works Department, most of the key structures are complete. These include flyovers, underpasses, and pedestrian bridges. Work on the drainage system has also reached its final stages.

The remaining tasks mainly involve finishing and detailing work. Engineers are focusing on final touches to ensure safety and smooth operation. Once completed, the project will offer a modern traffic system at Kutchery Chowk.

The project is being carried out by the Frontier Works Organisation. The organization has handled several major infrastructure projects across the country. Officials say the pace of work has been steady in recent months.

Authorities expect the upgraded junction to bring long-term benefits. It will reduce travel time and improve traffic management. Daily commuters are likely to experience smoother movement across the area.

Meanwhile, plans are already in place for further development. A new Rs8 billion underpass project along Peshawar Road is expected to begin soon. Officials say this phase will start after the completion of the current project.

The additional work will further enhance connectivity in Rawalpindi. It will support growing traffic demands and improve urban infrastructure. Authorities believe these projects will transform the city’s road network.

Residents and commuters are hopeful about the completion timeline. Many have faced delays and traffic issues during construction. The opening of Kutchery Chowk is expected to provide much-needed relief.
