Pakistani actor Nauman Masood has appealed to the government to reconsider the current Restaurant Timing restrictions imposed under austerity measures. In a video message shared on Instagram, the actor expressed concern over the growing pressure on Pakistan’s restaurant industry.
Nauman Masood said he usually interacts with fans in a light-hearted manner. However, this time he spoke seriously because the issue affects thousands of workers connected to restaurants and cafés across the country.
The actor addressed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz directly. He requested them to review the existing Restaurant Timing policy and consider the challenges faced by businesses.
According to Nauman Masood, the restaurant sector has already been struggling in recent months. Rising inflation, increasing fuel prices, and difficult economic conditions have placed heavy pressure on business owners.
He explained that the current restrictions have made the situation worse for both small and large restaurants. Many businesses are finding it difficult to manage salaries, utility bills, and operational costs under limited working hours.
Nauman Masood also highlighted the importance of restaurants and cafés during the summer season. He said many families prefer to go out at night after completing their daily activities. Restaurants and cafés serve as a major source of entertainment and social interaction for people during late hours.
The actor said the early closure policy is directly affecting customer flow and reducing business activity. He warned that continued restrictions on Restaurant Timing could create further financial problems for the hospitality sector.
He added that the restaurant industry is not only important for business owners. It also provides jobs to thousands of employees, including chefs, waiters, delivery workers, cleaners, and managers.
Nauman Masood urged authorities to consider the ground realities before continuing with the current policy. He stressed that supporting the restaurant sector would help protect jobs and provide relief to struggling businesses.
The video message quickly gained attention on social media, where many restaurant owners and users supported his concerns. Several people agreed that restaurants are facing serious difficulties due to rising costs and reduced operating hours.
The government introduced restricted business timings as part of broader energy-saving and austerity measures. However, industry representatives have repeatedly argued that the policy is negatively affecting economic activity, especially during the summer months.
