A high-level meeting of the Engineering Department was held in Karachi. The meeting was chaired by Mayor Murtaza Wahab. Key development plans for the city were reviewed during the session.
Officials discussed ongoing infrastructure schemes across Karachi. The Director General of Technical Services gave a detailed briefing on current progress. The mayor reviewed the updates and issued important instructions.
Mayor Murtaza Wahab stressed that all road development projects must include proper planning for beautification zones. He said infrastructure alone is not enough. Roads must also improve the overall look of the city.
He directed that beautification zones should be made a compulsory part of every major project. According to him, city development must focus on both function and appearance. This approach will help improve the urban environment.
The mayor also set a deadline for ongoing work. He instructed officials to complete all active projects by 30 June. He emphasized that delays will not be accepted under any circumstances.
Speaking at the meeting, he noted the possibility of heavy rainfall this year. He warned that unfinished work could create problems for citizens. Timely completion is therefore essential for public safety.
Murtaza Wahab also highlighted that sufficient funds are available for major road projects. He said priority must be given to key routes to ensure smooth traffic flow.
He further instructed municipal staff to stay fully committed to development work. He even suggested that teams may need to work on weekends if required to meet deadlines.
The mayor added that citizens are already beginning to see improvements in the city. He encouraged officials to maintain quality and speed in all ongoing projects.
