Govt Announces Early Salaries and Pensions Ahead of Eid-ul-Azha 2026

Islamabad โ€“ The federal government has approved early disbursement of salaries, allowances, and pensions for May 2026. The decision is aimed at supporting employees and pensioners before Eid-ul-Azha.

According to an official notification from the Ministry of Finance, payments for May will now be released on May 22, 2026. This is earlier than the regular payment schedule. The adjustment has been made due to the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha holidays.

Officials stated that Eid-ul-Azha is expected to fall on May 27 or May 28. The final date will depend on moon sighting. The government decided to ensure financial relief before the festive period.

The Finance Ministry has instructed the Controller General of Accounts to process all payments in advance. This includes salaries for federal employees and pensions for retired staff. The directive follows Rule 25(3) of the Federal Government Receipts and Payments Rules 2025.

The notification was issued by Deputy Secretary Muhammad Anwar. Copies have been shared with key departments. These include the Accountant General Pakistan Revenues, Military Accountant General, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs accounts office.

The government usually releases early payments before major religious events. Eid-ul-Azha is one of the most important Islamic festivals in Pakistan. It involves significant household spending on travel, food, and sacrificial animals.

Officials said the decision will help families manage expenses more easily. Many households increase spending during Eid-ul-Azha, which often places pressure on monthly budgets.

The move also comes at a time when inflation remains high. Rising prices have affected daily living costs across the country. Families are expected to face additional financial pressure during the festive season.

By releasing early payments, the government aims to provide relief to millions of employees and pensioners. This step is expected to support better financial planning ahead of Eid-ul-Azha celebrations.
