Pakistani singer and actor Hadiqa Kiani shared her emotions after receiving the prestigious Sitara-i-Imtiaz award. She said she felt “deeply honoured and humbled” by the recognition after more than two decades in the entertainment industry.
Taking to Instagram, Hadiqa Kiani thanked the people who supported her throughout her journey. She dedicated the award to her son, family, listeners, and fans. She wrote that the achievement belonged to everyone who stood by her over the years.
The civil awards ceremony took place on Wednesday. Several Pakistanis and foreign nationals received honours for their services in different fields, including arts, literature, sports, and public service.
At the main ceremony in Islamabad, President Asif Ali Zardari presented the Nishan-i-Imtiaz, Pakistan’s highest civil award, to writers Atta ul Haq Qasmi and Irfan ul Haq Siddiqui. Both were honoured for their contributions to literature.
Renowned poet Zehra Nigah and playwright Asghar Nadeem Syed received the Hilal-i-Imtiaz. Photographer Irfan Ahson and visual artist Hamra Abbas were also awarded the Sitara-i-Imtiaz for their contributions to the arts.
Actors Rashid Waheed Khawaja and Zahid Ahmed received the President’s Pride of Performance Award. Former cricket captain Shahid Afridi, mountaineer Shehroz Kashif, and the late equestrian Malik Ata Muhammad Khan were honoured with the Hilal-i-Imtiaz for their services to sports.
In Peshawar, Governor Faisal Karim Kundi presented the Sitara-i-Imtiaz to former women’s cricket captain Sana Mir. Squash player Muhammad Hamza Khan received the Tamgha-i-Imtiaz for his achievements in sports.
Meanwhile, a separate ceremony in Karachi honoured actors Fazila Qazi and Savera Nadeem with the Sitara-i-Imtiaz.
The recognition of Hadiqa Kiani highlighted her long-standing contribution to Pakistan’s music industry. Her message of gratitude received praise from fans and fellow artists across social media.
