US President Donald Trump has made new remarks on the Iran ceasefire, saying it was reached after a request from Pakistan. The statement adds fresh attention to ongoing global diplomatic tensions involving several major powers.
Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One after returning from China, Trump again addressed the ceasefire decision. He said the United States agreed to the truce after requests from multiple countries. However, he added that he was personally not in favor of the move.
According to Trump, Trump again emphasized that the decision was taken as a diplomatic gesture. He also described Pakistan’s leadership in positive terms, calling them “wonderful people.” The comments have sparked further discussion on Pakistan’s role in regional diplomacy.
Trump also said he reviewed proposals from Iran but found key elements unacceptable. He noted that while a long-term suspension of Iran’s nuclear program was not the main issue, concerns over uranium enrichment guarantees remained unresolved.
He repeated his firm stance that Iran must not develop nuclear weapons. “Iran cannot possess nuclear weapons,” he said during the briefing.
In the same discussion, Trump noted that Chinese President Xi Jinping supports preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear capabilities. He also said China favors keeping the Strait of Hormuz open for global trade.
On trade matters, Trump stated that he did not request any concessions from China regarding Iran-related issues. He said, “We do not need any favor,” while discussing ongoing diplomatic contacts.
The US president also mentioned that a decision would soon be made on sanctions related to Chinese companies buying Iranian oil. He added that China is expected to increase soybean imports from the United States.
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi responded to ongoing diplomatic developments. He said talks involving Pakistan have not collapsed but remain in a difficult phase due to US positions.
Araghchi also stressed that Iran does not trust the United States and expects clear terms for any future agreement. He added that Iran’s actions have been defensive and not aggressive.
As global negotiations continue, Trump again remains at the center of international debate over Iran, China, and regional diplomacy. The situation is expected to develop further in the coming days as diplomatic efforts continue.
