Farooq Sattar Predicts 28th Amendment Before Budget Announcement

MQM leader Farooq Sattar has said that the 28th amendment in the constitution is likely to be presented before the upcoming federal budget. He made the remarks during an interview with ARY News on Saturday.

Sattar stated that discussions around the 28th amendment are already underway in political circles. He claimed that MQMโ€™s proposed changes to the local government system are an important part of the broader constitutional package.

According to him, most political parties are supporting the proposed 28th amendment, except the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP). He added that PPPโ€™s stance that nothing can move forward without its approval is not realistic.

He further said that political decisions can still proceed without PPPโ€™s agreement. Sattar said that several developments are possible even if one party does not participate in the process.

The MQM leader also made strong political remarks while discussing governance and public spending. He claimed that large amounts of public money have been spent over the past 18 years without clear accountability.

Sattar questioned the utilization of funds, suggesting that trillions of rupees were spent without visible development results. He also criticized the condition of Karachi, saying the city does not reflect proper urban development.

He compared the cityโ€™s condition to historical ruins, stating that Karachi appears neglected and poorly maintained. His comments were aimed at highlighting governance failures over the years.

Sattar also alleged that the PPP has benefited from extended political influence. He referred to past constitutional changes, including presidential immunity, as examples of expanded authority.

He further suggested that political alternatives are emerging in response to current governance challenges. According to him, public dissatisfaction is increasing due to poor performance in major urban centers.

The discussion around the 28th amendment continues to gain attention in political circles. Parties are expected to further debate its contents before any formal announcement is made.

Sattar reiterated that the 28th amendment could become a major constitutional development before the budget session. However, no official timeline has been confirmed by the government so far.
