Pakistan Railways has announced a special travel plan ahead of Eid-ul-Adha. The plan includes three special Eid trains. The decision aims to handle rising passenger demand during the festive season.
Officials said the move is designed to ease travel pressure across the country. High fuel prices and limited road transport have increased reliance on trains. As a result, Pakistan Railways is preparing for heavy passenger loads.
The special trains will operate on key routes. These include Quetta to Karachi on May 23. Karachi to Rawalpindi on May 24. Karachi to Lahore on May 25. Each train will run with seven to eight coaches.
Authorities expect strong bookings and possible overcrowding. Many travelers are already shifting toward rail travel due to rising transport costs. The management of Pakistan Railways has increased preparations to handle the surge.
This year, one major change has been noted in the schedule. Peshawar has not been included in the Eid special train network. No special trains have been announced for routes connected to the city.
The decision has raised concerns among passengers from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Many travelers fear limited travel options during the busy Eid period. They believe the exclusion may increase pressure on other transport systems.
Despite these concerns, Pakistan Railways officials say the focus is on high-demand routes. They aim to ensure smooth operations where passenger volume is expected to be highest.
The Eid travel season is traditionally one of the busiest periods for rail services. Thousands of passengers travel to their hometowns each year. This year, the situation is expected to be more challenging due to fuel shortages.
Road transport has already been affected by rising fuel costs. This has pushed more passengers toward trains. In response, Pakistan Railways is working to manage crowding and improve service efficiency.
Officials say additional staff and monitoring systems will be deployed. Ticketing systems are also being monitored to avoid overbooking issues.
As Eid approaches, the special train operations are expected to play a key role. The efforts of Pakistan Railways will be crucial in managing nationwide travel demand and ensuring smoother journeys for passengers.
