Bilawal Bhutto Inaugurates Shahrah-e-Bhutto During Grand Ceremony in Karachi

Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari officially inaugurated Shahrah-e-Bhutto during a grand ceremony held in Karachi. The event was attended by senior political leaders, government officials, business figures, and party workers from across Sindh.

Bilawal Bhutto was accompanied by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah during the inauguration. The ceremony highlighted strong coordination between political and administrative leadership in the province.

Several senior PPP leaders attended the event, including former Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Senior Provincial Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, and ministers Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, Saeed Ghani, and Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar. Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab was also present at the ceremony.

During the event, Bilawal Bhutto officially opened Shahrah-e-Bhutto and also laid the foundation stone for a future expressway extension connecting Qayyumabad to Karachi Port. Officials said the extension project aims to improve Karachi’s road infrastructure and traffic management.

The inauguration ceremony also attracted important figures from the business and law enforcement sectors. Businessman Arif Habib attended the event along with Inspector General Sindh Police Javed Alam Odho and Additional IG Karachi Azad Khan.

Speaker of the Sindh Assembly Syed Owais Qadir Shah, provincial ministers, advisers, special assistants, lawmakers, and senior PPP leaders also participated in the gathering. A large number of PPP supporters and workers were present at the venue.

The Shahrah-e-Bhutto project has been developed under a public-private partnership model. The road project is a 39-kilometre-long signal-free expressway connecting Qayyumabad with the M-9 Motorway.

Officials said the project includes six major interchanges and is expected to reduce traffic congestion in Karachi. Authorities believe the expressway will improve travel time and support smoother transportation within the city.

Karachi has long faced severe traffic challenges due to rapid population growth and increasing vehicle numbers. Experts say modern road infrastructure projects are important for improving urban mobility and economic activity.

As part of the inauguration, Bilawal Bhutto took a ride on the newly completed highway. Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah personally drove the vehicle carrying the PPP chairman during the visit.

Bilawal Bhutto also paid toll tax at the Dumlottee Toll Plaza during the ceremony. Officials described the move as a symbolic gesture showing the operational readiness of the project.

Supporters of the project believe the new expressway could help improve connectivity between different parts of Karachi and reduce pressure on existing roads. The project is also expected to support commercial transportation and logistics activities in the city.
