Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has said that the case involving PML-N MPA Saqib Chadhar and actress Momina Iqbal will be handled strictly according to the law. She stated that no one would receive special treatment, regardless of political position or influence.
The statement came after actress Momina Iqbal accused Saqib Chadhar of harassment and other serious misconduct. She also appealed to the Punjab chief minister for support and justice in the matter.
In a post shared on X, CM Maryam Nawaz strongly condemned any form of harassment or exploitation against women. She said that anyone found involved in threatening or harassing a woman would face strict action.
CM Maryam Nawaz said that no individual is above the Constitution and the law. She added that state institutions would carry out their responsibilities independently and fairly. According to her statement, all actions will be taken on merit without political interference.
The chief minister also warned against using political pressure or personal influence in such cases. She said attempts to blackmail or threaten women by releasing private content publicly would not be tolerated. She described the warning as serious and uncompromising for anyone involved in such acts.
The controversy gained attention after Momina Iqbal approached Chung Police on Friday. She requested the registration of a first information report (FIR) against Saqib Chadhar.
According to the actress, the PML-N lawmaker allegedly became verbally abusive after she rejected his marriage proposal. Momina Iqbal claimed she later discovered that Saqib Chadhar was already married to two women.
