An MQM-P Senator faced an unexpected travel issue at Karachi Airport on Thursday. Senior politician Faisal Subzwari was stopped from boarding a flight to Dubai due to documentation concerns. The incident caused confusion at the airport and raised questions about travel policy.
The MQM-P Senator arrived at Karachi Airport around 2:30 pm to take a scheduled flight. However, airline staff did not issue a boarding pass. The reason cited was related to visa clearance requirements. As a result, he was unable to travel and returned home later in the evening.
According to details, the senator remained at the airport until approximately 4:45 pm. After waiting for clearance, he was informed that he could not proceed with the journey. This created delays and inconvenience for him and his family.
The MQM-P Senator stated that holders of official passports do not usually require a visit visa for Dubai travel. He added that such a policy arrangement had been introduced previously between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates. He further explained that he had already traveled under the same system earlier this year.
He also mentioned that during his earlier visit in January, he faced no such issues. However, this time the situation was different. Airport officials reportedly later informed him that approval from Abu Dhabi authorities was required for travel.
The MQM-P Senator said he has raised the matter with senior officials in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He expects clarification regarding the updated travel requirements. He also emphasized the need for clear communication between relevant authorities.
Reports indicate that while the senator had no personal luggage, his familyโs baggage had already been checked in. This added to the inconvenience and caused further delay in returning home.
The incident has drawn attention due to its sudden nature. It also highlights possible changes or confusion in travel documentation rules. Officials have not yet issued a detailed public statement regarding the matter.
The situation remains under review as the MQM-P Senator awaits further clarification on the travel policy. No official confirmation has been given about whether the rules have been formally changed or updated.
